JOB DESCRIPTION:
Position title: Vice President of Financial Affairs.
Department: Executive.
Location: Main Campus.
Full/Part time: Full time.
Staff Pay Schedule: Executive Level.
Organizational relationships:
Reports to (title): President/CEO.
Supervises (title): Director of Financial Planning, Assistant Director of Accounting, Accounting Clerk(s), Purchasing Specialist, Financial Services Coordinator, Director of Human Resources.
SUMMARY OF THE JOB:
The Vice President of Financial Affairs is the Chief Financial Officer of the University and reports to the President/CEO of the University. The Vice President of Financial Affairs is responsible for providing executive level direction and management oversight for financial planning, budgeting and budget analysis, accounting and business operations, finance controls and reporting, human resources operations, and purchasing and contracts.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Responsible for the financial analysis, planning and management of the university’s resources in order to facilitate and support its mission and strategic plan.
- Coordinate efforts with directors and managers who are responsible for the daily operations of finance, human resources, financial planning, and procurement.
- Lead the budget process and the development of the annual operating and capital budgets of the University.
- Responsible for oversight of Human Resources, payroll, and benefits.
- Assist the Executive team in gathering, collating, and analyzing data relative to the financial operations of the University.
- Be responsible for the accurate and timely reporting of financial information to internal and external parties.
- Oversee the fiscal management of contracts.
- Identifies areas of opportunity and implements necessary changes to streamline processes and functions to strengthen the student experience and improve operating metrics related to Financial Aid.
- Assist with the development of strategies that ensure that the Financial Aid and its programs are in alignment with institutional mission and goals.
- All other duties, as assigned.
OTHER FUNCTIONS:
- Actively participate in Student Mentoring program.
PROFESSIONAL/PUBLIC ACTIVITIES:
- Continuing professional development.
- Membership in accounting organizations (AICPA, IMA, etc.)
- Must participate in the Hallmark Character program.
KNOWLEDGE/ SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Presentation, Oral and Written Skills.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: PREFERRED:
- Experience with post-secondary education business models.
- Master’s degree in business administration, public administration, accounting, finance, or another related field.
REQUIRED:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
- Texas State Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
- 10+ years of directly related experience in financial/administrative management positions in education or a related field.
