Director of Clinical Education and Experiential Learning

SUMMARY OF THE JOB:The Director of Clinical Education and Experiential Learning provides leadership and administrative oversight for
all clinical education and simulation activities within the School of Nursing. This position supervises the Simulation
Hospital Coordinator and the Clinical Liaison to ensure high-quality, experiential learning aligned with program
outcomes, accreditation standards, and institutional goals. The position also serves as the primary liaison between
the School of Nursing and its clinical partners, fostering collaborative relationships that support clinical placements,
student learning, and community engagement.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Leadership and Oversight
• Provide strategic leadership and operational management for the clinical and simulation components of the
nursing curriculum.
• Supervise and support the Simulation Hospital Coordinator and the Clinical Liaison ensuring cohesive
communication, role clarity, and alignment with program and accreditation standards.
• Collaborate with faculty and HUSON leadership to ensure effective integration of clinical and simulation
experiences across all courses and levels.
• Evaluate and enhance the quality and effectiveness of clinical and simulation experiences based on
feedback, student outcomes, and accreditation recommendations.
• Provide leadership and oversight for all clinical experiences across the nursing program, ensuring
consistency, quality, and alignment with curricula outcomes.
• Mentors and supervises clinical faculty to maintain adherence to established clinical procedures and best
practices.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive orientation for clinical, lab, and simulation faculty to
ensure high-quality instruction, consistent student evaluation, and alignment with course and program
outcomes.
Clinical Partnership Development
• Cultivate and sustain strong, mutually beneficial relationships with clinical sites to ensure ongoing access
to diverse and high-quality clinical learning opportunities.
• Coordinate affiliation agreements, ensure compliance with regulatory and contractual requirements, and
manage site evaluations.
• Represent the School of Nursing in professional meetings, advisory councils, and partnership development
initiatives.
Simulation Oversight
• Collaborate with the Simulation Hospital Coordinator to ensure simulation activities align with course
objectives and current clinical practice standards.
• Support the implementation of evidence-based simulation methodologies, debriefing practices, and faculty
development related to simulation pedagogy.
• Oversee maintenance of simulation equipment, resources, and scheduling in collaboration with simulation
staff.
• In collaboration with HUSON leadership, develop and maintain contingency plans for clinical and
experiential learning to ensure continuity of student progression in the event of clinical site disruptions
Quality Assurance and Compliance
• Ensure compliance with state board of nursing regulations, accreditation standards and institutional policies
related to clinical and simulation education.
• Participate in data collection and reporting for accreditation, program evaluation, and continuous quality
improvement.
• Support faculty in meeting clinical and course learning outcomes and student competency assessments.
Administrative and Collaborative Functions
• Participate in curriculum planning, faculty meetings, and strategic planning initiatives.
• Assist in budget planning related to clinical and simulation resources.
• Serve on School of Nursing and University committees assigned.
• Participate in the Character Program.

• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

• Knowledge of current nursing education trends, simulation best practices, and accreditation requirements.
• Commitment to student success, diversity, and continuous quality improvement.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
• Master’s degree in nursing (MSN) required
• Unencumbered RN license in the state of Texas
• Minimum of five (5) years professional nursing experience, including clinical teaching and/or
administrative/leadership experience.
• Demonstrated experience in clinical coordination, simulation operations, or partnership development
preferred.
