Summary of the Job:
Under the direction of the simulation lab director, performs duties in the lab to support a range of simulation learning experiences for nursing students.  Includes operating audio-visual equipment, establishing network connections for human patient simulators, operating simulators, and communicating with help desk personnel representing various vendors. Additional duties include setting up and taking down supplies and equipment for skills labs and simulation scenarios as well as supporting faculty during student experiences. Administrative duties include order supplies, assisting with scheduling, and other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions:
  • Communicates with all nursing faculty in a respectful and supportive manner.
  • Operates audiovisual equipment, establishes network connections for human patient simulators, operates simulators, and communicates with help desk personnel representing various vendors.
  • Completes on-time laboratory set-ups and take-downs as specified by the faculty and director of the simulation lab.
  • Prepares for all simulation learning experiences in an efficient manner that provides for rapid turnaround and sustains a high level of organization in the lab environment.
  • Drafts a schedule of simulation learning activities for each academic term and submits to the director of the simulation lab for approval.
  • Predicts and maintains supply inventory needed for upcoming student learning experiences.
  • Conducts routine cleaning and maintenance of healthcare equipment, simulators, and electronics, schedules vendor supported maintenance, installs software updates, and updates maintenance records.
  • Provides faculty instruction on the use of simulators, equipment, other technology, and remains available to provide additional assistance if needed.
  • Adheres to laboratory safety standards set by the simulation director including needle safety, simulation medication safety, and psychological safety.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Excellent communication and people skills
  • Knowledge of Nursing lab equipment/simulation lab equipment
  • Exceptional organizational skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Aptitude in resolving conflicts and issues.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • One year experience working in a health-care related field.
  • Technical skills operating audiovisual computerized equipment.
  • Medical Assistant or Certified Nursing Assistant a plus
